Avoiding Communication Snafu's Due to Cultural Misunderstanding

Asian, Hispanic, African-American, Anglo- American: Each has its communication norms and mores.  Yet, few outside each group are aware of those cultural patterns and norms in communication.  What may be direct and open communication to one group, may be blatantly disrespectful to another.  How do we avoid bringing our communications to a boil in the American melting pot?

In this enlightening discussion, representatives of each of the above-mentioned groups will describe their cultural norms for communication in the work place.  Each will share experiences of misunderstanding, frustration, and humor from unsuspecting colleagues and customers.  Prescriptions for greater understanding will be explored by and for each of the major groups represented in today’s work world.
