"Mediation First President, Mark Stein consults/trains in Dublin, Ireland; Presents at International Medation Conference."

Mark Stein had the privilege recently to provide mediation consultation to CDR (Community Dispute Resolution) Program of Dublin, Ireland.  CDR currently provides mediation services for community conflicts and seeks to expand into the commercial sector.   Mr. Stein met with legal and business leaders and facilitated two seminars for community leaders and staff to extol the virtues of mediation in commercial applications.

After a week in Dublin, Mr. Stein traveled to Belfast, where he made two presentations to conference attendees at the European Conference on Peacemaking and Conflict Resolution.   Mr. Stein conducted simulation mediation sessions and facilitated a discussion on the three major mediation models.

Highlighting the conference was a plenary panel discussion with representatives of all former Yugoslavian states on the weekend prior to planned airstrikes by NATO members against Serbia.  Two residents from Kosovo managed to leave the country to participate in the conference.  Tales of horror were revealed in a very emotional presentation.  The representative from Serbia shared the Serbian view, but was sympathetic to the Kosovo representatives' story.  The representative from Serbia even translated for the non-English speaking delegates from Kosovo!

Other countries represented at the conference include: Cypress, South Africa, Ukraine, France, Germany...

Mr. Stein will be glad to share more of his experience upon request.  He hopes to offer training/consulting services to other countries in the future.  Plans are underway to conduct training in South Africa in the spring of 1999.  Details will follow if circumstances allow.
